Welcome message

The NSS Unit of SRM College of Nursing, in collaboration with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, observed World Environment Day 2025 on June 5, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the college campus. Held at the institutional level, the event was organized in alignment with the global theme “End Plastic Pollution” and focused on instilling eco-consciousness among nursing students through the theme “Single-Use Plastic-Free Campus Pledge.” The event aimed to educate students on the environmental hazards of plastic pollution and promote practical steps toward sustainable living. The session witnessed active participation from 95 students of B.Sc. Nursing VI Semester, along with the guidance and support of five faculty members. The highlight of the programme was the collective recitation of the “Single-Use Plastic-Free Campus Pledge,” in which all attendees pledged their commitment to refuse and reduce the use of single-use plastic items in their daily lives. The pledge outlined specific actions such as refusing plastic straws, bags, cutlery, and packaging; carrying reusable bags, bottles, and containers; avoiding plastic-wrapped produce and sachets; spreading awareness among peers and families; responsibly sorting and recycling waste; engaging in SRMIST’s recycling initiatives; and choosing sustainable, refillable, or repairable products.

This initiative was not only a symbolic expression of environmental responsibility but also a practical step toward behavioral change and community impact. The participants demonstrated enthusiasm and a deep sense of purpose, reinforcing their roles as future nursing professionals who are not only health advocates but also environmental stewards. The event concluded with reflections from faculty members and NSS coordinators, who emphasized the importance of continued action and education in achieving a plastic-free, sustainable campus, in line with SRMIST’s commitment to environmental leadership and sustainable development.

On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, the NSS Unit of SRM College of Nursing organized an Awareness Programme on Tuberculosis on March 24, 2025, at Meyyur village with the objective of educating the local community about the causes, prevention, early detection, and treatment of Tuberculosis. Their efforts focused on raising awareness about the symptoms of TB, the importance of timely diagnosis, adherence to treatment, and the collective role of the community in preventing the spread of the disease. The programme drew the participation of 46 community members, who responded positively and showed keen interest throughout the session. The initiative successfully bridged the gap between clinical knowledge and community understanding, reinforcing the commitment of SRM College of Nursing and its NSS volunteers to rural health promotion and disease prevention. The event served as a meaningful step toward empowering the community with essential health information and fostering active involvement in public health initiatives.
